Jan Seale is not just a poet, but also a writer of short stories, non-fiction, and children’s books. She was born in Pilot Point, Texas and attended Baylor University, later earning an M. A. at North Texas State University. Her awards include a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship in Poetry, the Kathryn Morris Award from the Poetry Society of Texas, and the Bill Burke Award and Dolly Sprunk Memorial Award from the New York Poetry Forum. In 2012, she served as the Texas Poet Laureate. She has published many volumes, and her work has appeared in anthologies, journals, and newspapers, including The Yale Review, Texas Monthly, and Writer’s Digest.
